End of year community update
Winter has arrived and with it holidays and reflections. As we prepare for 2026, we look back at 2025 and take the lessons we have learned with us. We already knew that people were passionate about the AtoM and Archivematica projects, but we learned that outreach to connect the community with the project maintainers can lead to more successful project contributions. We learned that people still wanted a roadmap, so we have delivered a new style and have been working on forw

November Community Update
This is not quite the last community post of the year, but 2025 is nearly to a close and preparations are underway for next year already. Both the AtoM and the Archivematica roadmaps have been updated to reflect the current work on each project. Each project is working towards a release (AtoM 2.10.1 and Archivematica 1.19), so expect further announcements soon. In the meantime, follow along with the roadmaps and GitHub milestones. A busy farewell to summer: Updates from the contributor community
The mornings grow cool and the days grow short as Autumn has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere. The contributor community had a busy end of summer, submitting pull requests and commenting on issues in GitHub. The AtoM maintainers deprecated BS2 as part of the upcoming 2.10 release and worked with contributors in August to ensure all pull requests were accepted before the major change took place. A big thanks to the maintainers and contributors for working well together to m

More news from the Contributor Community: July update
Up in the Northern Hemisphere we are well into summer; the time of year where things start to slow down a bit. But not for the contributor communities from the AtoM and Archivematica projects! July was still a busy month, with community development meetings and some contributor milestones being hit. The AtoM community development meeting had a new attendee and some further accepted contributions to the project. At Artefactual, we are hard at work with the 2.10 release, which

Helping the Contributor Community Succeed: June update
June has been a busy month for the AtoM and Archivematica contributor communities! We hosted a Contributor Gathering and continued with Community Development Meetings for each open source project. It is also a forum to give contribution feedback to Artefactual, in order to improve the process. Attendance at these events has been

Introducing community development meetings
Contributors are an integral part of any open source project. For the last six months we have been building ways to increase contributions and foster relationships between contributors and our project maintainers at Artefactual. As a result of that we have been hosting contributors gatherings, maintaining roadmaps, and now we have started hosting community development meetings. We are beta-testing these community development meetings for the next 6 months. We have invited cur

Growing community contributions: AtoM 2.9.1
Banner image designed by Freepik AtoM 2.9.1 was released this week with lots of bug fixes and some enhancements, including a Javascript challenge for human verification to prevent bot attacks ( documentation ). But what makes this minor release even more exciting is the number of community code contributions we have received. Not only have contributors been diligent about reporting bugs, but also in this release nearly a third of code changes came from the community . That’s
