June has been a busy month for the AtoM and Archivematica contributor communities! We hosted a Contributor Gathering and continued with Community Development Meetings for each open source project. Contributor Gatherings are held 2-3 times a year to allow current and potential contributors to meet to talk about their current work and blockers. It is also a forum to give contribution feedback to Artefactual, in order to improve the process. Attendance at these events has been steadily increasing and so has engagement in the project GitHubs, which is great!

Archivematica’s Contributor Gathering had a large number of attendees interested in hearing about Docker deployment changes from Artefactual. If you missed out but want to learn more, the Gathering notes are available on the GitHub wiki. The Community Development Meeting also saw a few new faces and hopefully there will be more community contributions soon.

This month, AtoM hosted an Contributor Gathering with a representative from the AtoM Foundation in attendance. Conversations focused on how to improve contribution documentation and communication tools for contributors. As a result, we are reviewing and updating contributor documentation. We are also looking at new communication opportunities, so expect an update soon.

If you are interested in joining a future Contributor Gathering or Community Development Meeting, please contact the Community Team at contributors@artefactual.com
