A busy farewell to summer: Updates from the contributor community

The mornings grow cool and the days grow short as Autumn has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere. The contributor community had a busy end of summer, submitting pull requests and commenting on issues in GitHub. The AtoM maintainers deprecated BS2 as part of the upcoming 2.10 release and worked with contributors in August to ensure all pull requests were accepted before the major change took place. A big thanks to the maintainers and contributors for working well together to make that process smooth.
We also closed over 460 inactive issues in the Archivematica Issues repository in August. We’re now well on our way to having a list of issues that we can easily triage and tackle with future releases. And most importantly, a manageable list of issues helps support potential contributors. Thank you to everyone who had questions, or gave feedback on the issues! The user forum has a detailed FAQ about the bulk closure process if you would like further details.
Both the Archivematica and AtoM projects are edging closer to major releases as we begin regression testing. If you are interested in finding out what is going into each release, please check out the Archivematica and AtoM roadmaps. If you search the GitHub milestone that matches the next release, you will see the issues and pull requests that will be included.
Community Development meetings are continuing until the end of the year. They will be reviewed in December, so stay tuned for updates about 2026.
If you are interested in joining a future community development meeting, please contact the Community Team at contributors@artefactual.com.
Part of the user community? We have online user forums, as well as lists of community-run user groups for AtoM and Archivematica.
