AtoM 2.9.1 was released this week with lots of bug fixes and some enhancements, including a Javascript challenge for human verification to prevent bot attacks (documentation). But what makes this minor release even more exciting is the number of community code contributions we have received. Not only have contributors been diligent about reporting bugs, but also in this release nearly a third of code changes came from the community.

That’s 11 pull requests out of 34! In recent times, this is some of the strongest support from community contributors yet. We hope it is the start of a growing contributor community around AtoM. Collaboration is a strength of open source software, which we articulated more in our May Day post. Everyone benefits from these contributions and the community becomes an active participant in the software it relies upon.

Together we can bring AtoM forward for the whole domain. We welcome contributions and hope to see more contributions for 2.10 and beyond!

Got a bug you want to see fixed? Submit a pull request for the next release. You can also submit issues and pull requests to the AtoM documentation.
