Understanding AtoM to RiC Mappings in Mnemian

When developing the first Mnemian prototypes we wanted to start with real data. We wanted to understand as quickly as possible what the real challenges and opportunities were in working with RiC. We started with publicly available data from a few AtoM websites with which  we were familiar and made some initial decisions about how to map metadata from AtoM into a RiC-based structure in Mnemian. We’ve published the mappings in GitHub, to allow others to review, comment, and contribute.

Working with linked data is different. There is more than one way that existing descriptions could be transformed into RiC. It can get complicated very quickly. We don’t want to get bogged down, and we believe that starting with a simple subset of RiC is a practical way of seeing results quickly.

In this workshop we will show our work and enable participants to contribute their thoughts and improvements to these mappings to help shape a new path from ISAD to RiC.

If you’re interested in participating in the discussion and providing feedback, join Artefactual and Imagiz on January 29th at 9am GMT and 5pm GMT to learn how to get involved.
