Our hiring process

Skills and education are important but we want to hire the right person, not a resume.

Job interview

Principles

Artefactual follows several key principles when hiring:

  1. Values

    • We ground our hiring practices in our values

  2. Diversity

    • We want to include people of different races, religions, ages, sexes, sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, marital status, family status, physical or mental disabilities, political beliefs, colours, ancestries, or places of origin. When we are hiring, we look consciously for a diversity of candidates

  3. Longevity

    • We want Artefactual staff to work for Artefactual for a long time, be challenged and find their work meaningful, and see a career path at Artefactual

  4. Work Culture

    • We at Artefactual want to focus on principles and values over technical skills

    • Job-based functional skills are important but secondary

Curriculum Vitae

Process

Artefactual follows these hiring stages:

  • Initial job posting and resume review

  • Selected candidates will then take part in a phone/video screening in which the hiring manager will introduce the candidate to the company and position and ask some prepared questions

  • Following this initial meeting, selected candidates will be asked to do a secondary interview. This interview can be either one-on-one with the hiring manager or a panel interview. Answers in this interview should follow the STAR method:

    • Situation – what was the situation

    • Task – what were you tasked with

    • Action – what actions did you take

    • Result – what was the result

  • A reference check will then be conducted by the hiring team

  • The selected candidate will then be made an offer
