Publication: From Time Theft to Time Stamps

Check out a recent publication by our own Dr. Corinne Rogers, previously Project Co-ordinator for the InterPARES project (International Research on Permanent Authentic Records in Electronic Systems) and now a Systems Archivist at Artefactual. The article traces the development of digital forensics since the 1980s, and describes the twin challenges of the identification of records (archival focus) and evidence (digital forensics focus) in digital systems, establishing their contexts, provenance, relationships, and meaning. These are subjects close to our hearts, as the goal of digital preservation is to ensure that digital holdings, whatever their origin and content, remain identifiable, reliable and accessible over time.
