Who we are
Artefactual Systems is the lead developer of the open-source Archivematica and AtoM software applications. We provide development services, consulting, remote technical support and hosted solutions to a growing list of international clients in the archives and library community. We are looking to add a Test Automation Lead to take our software quality and reliability to the next level.
What we offer
This is a permanent, full-time position with some flexibility in work hours and the option to work remotely one day a week. You will work in our New Westminster office with our skilled and enthusiastic team to plan, implement and develop an automated testing suite for Archivematica and AtoM. Salary is commensurate with your experience, and an extended benefits and dental plan is included.
What you’ll do
*Design and develop test infrastructure, test automation frameworks and test automation standards
*Identify the right mix of testing tools
*Work closely with our software analysts, developers, and systems administrators to integrate automated test scripts in software delivery
*Plan and write automated functional tests
*Mentor team members who are unfamiliar with testing best practices
*Participate in design and code reviews to ensure testability of code
*Research and suggest improved methods & metrics for test effectiveness to achieve higher software quality and reliability

*You love writing automated tests!
*You take pride in delivering high quality software
*You are comfortable working in a heterogeneous but predominantly Linux environment
*You are self-motivated and self-learning
*You have excellent communication skills in English, including the ability to communicate technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, and a higher than average ability to listen.
*You are respectful, responsible, and open to differing opinions
*1+ years experience writing automated tests for real-world, production software. A good understanding of current testing best practice and methods.
*Experience doing development on real world, production software. Solid foundations in current programming best practice.
*Basic proficiency with Linux and Bash. You should know how to navigate the filesystem, run binaries, install packages, manage permissions, and edit config files via Bash.
*Experience deploying and supporting automated testing systems
*Experience with Jenkins or similar continuous integration tools
*Experience with Selenium, Cucumber or similar functional testing suites
*Good PHP or Python programming skills

*OS: Ubuntu (we use vagrant to provide standardized dev environments)
*Database: MySQL, SQLite
*Version control: Git
*Application frameworks: Symfony (AtoM) or Django (Archivematica)
*Collaboration: Slack, Gmail, Github, Gitlab, Hangouts, and Redmine
