Artefactual is pleased to have been chosen to replace the NWT Archives’ legacy Archival Information Management System for the Government of the Northwest Territories. Artefactual will install a hosted instance of the latest public release of Access to Memory (AtoM) as the foundation of Archives’ new Archival Information Management System, supported by data migration of the Archives’ extensive archival holdings of 101,000 item-level descriptions and over 93,000 digital objects into AtoM. Artefactual will provide training and support to Archives staff and custom development of AtoM to support the requirements of GNWT to manage access to invaluable archival resources and fulfill obligations of the NWT Archives Act.
Artefactual has developed Access to Memory (AtoM) as an open-source, web-based archival information system that supports hierarchical arrangement and description of analogue as well as digital archival descriptions, and includes the ability to manage authority records, accessions, accruals, physical storage locations, and hierarchical subject and place taxonomies.
Artefactual is looking forward to this opportunity with the Government of the Northwest Territories to support the work of Canadian archivists to provide standards-based public access to tens of thousands of important cultural heritage objects.
